This week I made an unexpected purchase by getting The High Performance Planner by Brendon Burchard.
For the past year or so I’ve been using a planner designed by my colleague Alaia Williams The Next 12 Months: A Planner for Solopreneurs and Small Business Owners. I enjoyed this planner as it allowed me to focus on my content creation and tracking my followers.
This summer I was began to think about my goals as I am a few years away from turning 40. In August I started a new job as a marketing manager at Sutliff & Stout, Injury & Accident Law Firm. This was the anchor to my five year plan. A few weeks later I launched the African-American Marketing Association (AAMA). A long term goal coming into fruition. At this time in my life I am focusing a lot on leadership development and along with my health and finances.
I decided to purchase The High Performance Planner because it encompasses what is important to me at this moment whether it was it is the high level task and delegation to the low level ideas. The planner is filled with assessments and affirmations to gauge yourself on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Overall, I consider myself to have a nice ounce of self-awareness, but to take time to evaluate yourself on a daily basis will be a nice challenge to face. I believe this will give me a nice balance between work and outside projects.
Please keep in mind this is a 60 day calendar. The planner is thick so it can come as a surprise to you. I don’t have a problem with that, but I can see how people would be disappointed if they do not know prior to making a purchase. The only con I have there is no month-at-glance before the weekly pages.
On December 1st I have a planning session scheduled with my friend Tanida Mullen, The Savvy Young Professional, to discuss our 2019 projects. From there I will begin using my planner. I plan on waking up about 15-30 minutes earlier in the morning to incorporate the planner as well as creating a 30 minute evening routine. Perhaps, I will do a recap after 60 days to see how I like it once I put pen to pad. Follow the #HPXLIFE
